Dell 466/MX blank screen after install
I mean at the end of the install it asks to configure the X (I also used the GUI install) and one of the options is to test the configuration (1024x768x16). But when I went to do a startx after install all I see is a blank screen. I spent several days looking into the problem, I will give you some details here,

At what point in the install did you do these things? It sounds like you did a complete install and then added these items. Is that right? I did install the updated Nvidia driver after a full installation. It did no good. But I'll try this. Hi Yes a fresh install, after the Nvidia driver install from the repository

The only thing besides normal usage that would have been changed was an application was installed, however, I rebooted normally after install of it and Same issue occurs if network cable is removed, get windows user login instead of network login.. log in fine.. hear windows startup wav then to blank screen also.

I repartitioned and formatted the 180 gig drive and then got a NTLDR is missing error after installing XP to the drives first partition. When trying to fix with the XP CD it gives message that it is detecting hardware, but just sits there with a blank screen before loading the XP install drivers at the blue

The install went fine but when I went to reboot I dont even get to Boot0, just a blank screen with a flashing cursor. So now I have run fdisk /mbr and changed the active partion back to windows. can bootup once after install win98SE
Hi- I am trying to install Radeon 7500 64MB video card on my Dell GX100 and am having problems. After installign the card, I reboot and my monitor is blank. The PC is running fine, but I can't get the montitor to work. Has anyone else experienced this/have a solution? TIA. My PC: Dell GX100 Win98 512 MB RAM Pentium

... if I set the power switch to shutdown when pressed for four seconds the system shuts down but again restarts with scandisk. When installing programs that ask if you wish to restart computer after install, when I press 'yes restart my computer' I get just a blank screen the same as above. any help most grateful!

After that install the newest catalyst drivers for the ATI 7500. That should cure the problem. Ed Yes, but with Via KT133-based sets you will also have to drop AGP to 2x. You'll lose about 5% of the speed but the fact is no-one can tell without a benchmark anyway. Fairlight.

After the install. I did the reboot... ***BLANK SCREEN*** (eek!!) After much waiting... and waiting... and waiting... NOTHING! Oh No Batman!!!... Then just when I was going to give it the three fingered salute (warm boot), I happened to touch the Trackball... Beep! And the screen lights up and the drive spins up.

Uninstall Still Leaves Some Files On The Computer

I chose to put LILO on dev/hda3 (root partition) - at end of install, it tried to automatically boot into linux but I got a blank screen saying "local: cant did a custom install - Made 3 logical partitions in dev/hda3 (/, /usr, /home) and kept dev/hda2 as Swap - installation hung after 95% of packages copied.

Anybody have specifics on XF86Config settings for DisplaySize, HorizSync and VertRefresh? Can I run YAST on an existing install? Maybe I can change the setting via YAST?
